Hi all,
assuming I have Active Sky set up correctly to work with FSBuild, I'd appreciate some help on the correct sequence for using these two products together: I first start AS and let it generate a snapshot file. I don't specify a route yet. Then I start FSB.
First question: Is there any visual clue in FSB that it has now been able to read the AS snapshot file before I build my flight plan and fuel quantities?
Assuming FSB has read the snapshot file, does the file contain enough worldwide wind data for FSB to estimate fuel for the entire route? In other words, although AS doesn't yet know the route, has it given FSB all the wind data in the snapshot file for any route that FSB might be asked to generate? I'm assuming that the snapshot file does contain all the data that FSB needs, so I don't have to go back to AS to import FSB's flight plan, except, maybe, to print out detailed wind data for the route. If someone could please confirm that, that would be great.
So, last question: assuming FSB has read the snapshot file, what part do the Temperature field and the Ave Route Winds field play on the Aircraft page? Should I just leave these blank and assume that FSB has picked up this information?
Why chicken/egg? Well, I thought maybe AS needed the route before it could give FSB the wind data for that route, and that FSB couldn't build the route (and fuel estimate) without the wind data from AS. The longer I sit here writing, the more I see that can't be the case.
Thanks for your help.
