Forgive me if there's an obvious solution to this, but as a relatively new user, has anyone experienced anything like this before? I've tried deleting the offending waypoints from the plan and building again with the Build from Route waypoint Table/Grid option ticked but the exact same route is built again.

The reverse routing (EGLL-KSFO in this case) is generated with no problems, and the flight plan is always exported to FS9/PMDG747 with no problems. Operating system is W7 Home Premium 64-bit. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Long flight!

Yes, Auto Gen KSFO-EGLL has problems. And I do not know why.
I noticed you have the SR button "in" which may have used an old storred route ... but at any rate:

What you may want to do is use NATs routing for the over water flights.

Start with KSFO and EGLL in the flight plan box then switch to PM mode to add a NAT track (like, trakw, e.g.) to the plan.

This will get the job done when you exit PM and build it.

It will be something simple (or add SID/STAR also) like this:

Thanks for the reply, von. I've tried what you suggested and selected a NAT (via the SN button, I got an error saying "The server name or address could not be resolved" when clicking the DN button), however when I exit PM mode and click Build, it disregards the NAT and plots a straight-line course between KSFO and EGLL anyway.

Again, could well be something I'm doing wrong as opposed to the software. :)

NATRAKURL=www.fsbuild.com/nat/www.notams.jcs.mil/common/nat.html

Delete the current line in the FSbuild2.cfg file and use this one.

Then try it again.

Ok, thanks, that's allowed me to download the latest NAT's, but now the BUILD button is greyed out. And I think you can guess what happens if I click AUTO GENERATE...

For a quick check, Start FSbuild, just put the route into the flight plan box and verify the BUILD button generates a good route ... then you can play with the NATS routes later.
KSFO JAROM TRAKW NERTU EGLL

Later:
After selecting the NATS route FROM/VIA/TO INSERT ,

"unselect" PM mode ... then click the BUILD button ... not Autogen

You have to leave plan mode 'PM' to use the 'Build' button.

Regards.
Ernie.

You're not the only one who has this problem, and it doesn't appear to have anything to do with NATS. Try LEMD to EDDS. The way-points jump from southern France (N43:30 E005:21) to the Baltic Sea (N55:15 E013:30) in one step. But the way-points are on the same airway (UM736). Then the route approaches Stuttgart from the North. Plotting the reverse direction works as expected.

I've seen a similar "error" on other routes as well. It's as if the program is following an airway to get close, but misses the point where it hits the closest useful point and keeps going to the end, and creates a huge "bump". Also try KTPA to OBBI. There's a huge jump over Saudi Arabia to just North of Somalia, then back on course.

Hopefully the programmers can sort out the logic error.

That fixed the LEMD-EDDS problem, but the KTPA-OBBI jog to Southern Saudi Arabia still remains. The HA NDB is showing up in the flight plan for some reason.

One other odd thing, to remove the bad way-point, I have to delete it from the string of text version of the flight plan. Removing it from the spreadsheet version doesn't actually remove it.

I'm running 2.3.1 build 209

The spreadsheet version is the view with the line numbers on the left, just like a spreadsheet.

I updated the AIRAC data and re-indexed. I also tried to update my version of FSBuild, but even after running the UpdateFSBuild23 program, it still shows version 2.3.1.

As you can see from the screenshot attached, there is something up with point DETKO. When I double-clicked line 87, it plotted it in the position it should be, but the next time it plotted incorrectly. During autogen, the correct position was used for navigation, but the incorrect lat-long used for plotting. If version 2.3.7.2 plotted correctly, what am I doing wrong in my attempts to update? I only have 2 files available in the simmarket dl area: full install, and update. Am I not applying the update correctly (just run it)?

I still have a few strands of hair left, should I just give them a hard yank and be done with it?

You have the "SR" button on FSBuild's screen depressed.
Un-select it.

Did you also, in the "build options" select "Exclude SID/STAR" before you autogened?

I have never had a problem upgrading to a new version of FSbuild.
You have some kind of (additional) problem there!

EDIT:
There are two DETKO waypoints in your area.
The wrong one was selected ..looks like.

In your FSBuild2.cfg file:

In this section:
[FSBUILD]

Add this:
NAVCHKDUPDIST=100
