I was notified through simmarket that an update to v2.4 was available. I downloaded and installed it. However, no changes to my FSBuild installation happened.

I therefore de-installed FSBuild completely to re-build from the ground up: FSBuild v2, Update v2.2, Update v2.3, Update 2.4.

Result: I went up to v2.2 as the update to 2.3 stalled. Also I now have two entries in my Start/Programs shortcuts list, one for "FSBuild 2" and one for "FSBuild 2.2". I tried both and checked the "about" entry to find out which version it actually was: both said "version 2.0".

All of this is messy. The first update creates a second application shortcut but doesn't update the application; the next update crashes during installation.

Is there any way to have a file that installs FSBuild with all updates included, without the need to go through several updates?

Thanks for any help

Chris

Thanks Ernie.

That will solve my issue with the v2.3 update.

But it doesn't solve the problem that both the update to v2.2 and to v2.4 will create separate shortcuts on my desktop and in my applications pulldown menu. I have "FS Build 2", "FS Build 2.2", "FS Build 2.4". Doesn't look like an upgrade of an installed application, but more like a new and seperately installed application.

Thus: can I also skip the update to v2.2 and only install FSBuild2, and then update to v2.4? That will take away one more separate installation.

Thanks

Chris

Ernie

I love your program (as well as your other work which I use) and your support is extremely professional and one feels how you care about people with issues.

But sorry to say, this upgrading is a mess. I have done what you said/suggested:

1. Installed v2 - all works fine. One shortcut on my desktop called FSBuild2. "About FS Build" says that I have "Version 2.0.0."
2. Did not install the update to v2.2 or v2.3
3. Installed v2.4 which I had downloaded from Simmarket. It does indeed install some files into the FSBuild folder. It also places a shortcut "FSBuild 2.4" on my desktop. HOWEVER: when I click on "FSBuild 2.4 I get all kinds of error messages and then startup stalls. When I click on the old "FSBuild 2" shortcut which is still there, the application starts. But then, checking in "About FS Build" it *still* says "Version 2.0.0". Since I don't know how I can tell whether v2.4 is installed I rely on "About FSBuild" - which tells me I still have v2.0

So in a nutshell I have some confusing and unusable Shortcuts on my desktop that I don't know what they stand for; and I have an application that runs but it tells me that it is still v2.0. On top of it, I don't know whether I have incorporated all the updates that came with v2.2.

Is there any way we can just have a one-time-installs-it-all file? This upgrading procedure creates more problems than anything.

I may be off on this but worth a quick check.

"3. Installed v2.4 which I had downloaded from Simmarket. It does indeed install some files into the FSBuild folder."

The 2.4 from SimMarket is an "update" only.

Check this ... and do a screenshot of the path to the folder you use for the update.

I want to verify it went "into" your original FSBuild folder ...
And not e.g. into a path like C:\FSBuild2\FSbuild\

In this example the original files "and" all the update files from SimMarket installer should go into ..
C:\fsbuild2
No errors will happen when starting FSBuild from the "original" folder.
