There's been talk that FSBuild is antiquated and may be dying. I hope that's not the case as it is quite a useful and unique flight planner. I was using Flightsim Commander but I'm not impressed, especially for the price. Hopefully FS Build will stay current and with us through the FSX era? I hope!

Well, I personally don't know why people have been saying that while Ernie keeps working on new versions and fixes. He's a strong presence here and on other forums, he always listen to his costumers and is always trying to incorporate new ideas brought to him so... I don't know what dying means for those people.

regards,
Igor

I don't either as this looks to be the best flight planner since FSNavigator, which I really liked. FS Build takes a little getting used to but it's got a lot on the ball and I don't mind shelling out the bucks if it's going to stay around.

That's odd - I've never seen that opinion. FSBuild is still the best and most flexible planner available... I expect Ernie plans to keep going with it as long as the market is there.

I think its in reference to this upcoming product..

http://www.pfpx.com/

It does look good, and He's implemented several features Fsbuild has (it even has a 'Build' button).

So some people have been predicting this will mean the end of Fsbuild.

Its irrelevent to me, as long as Fsbuild has people using the product I will support it.
(Notice I said 'using' the product, whether it sells anymore is irrelevent).

If people stop using it, I have lots of other projects to work on, nothing lasts forever.

Regards.
Ernie.

The comments are mostly on Flightsim.com. They're not putting FSBuild down, so don't misunderstand. They just seem to be of the opinion that it's past its time and that navdata is not updated (which I don't find to be true at all). Many seem to favor Flightsim Commander but personally, it's not my favorite and I don't find the authors to be all that interested in their customers. I had FS Build on my last computer but it died and I just didn't replace it on my new one. But will do so now and I'm glad to see there is still a following out there for it. Thanks for the encouraging comments.

You do realize that in the 2.4 update release the software uses the Navigraph AIRACS and thus is as up to date as you care to make it?

Also,

FSBuild uses Upper level winds .. and required fuel for the trip (etc) is calculated.
FS Commander does not do that type in-depth flight planning.

Von,

I don't usually bother any more... it's like talking to my teenage daughter.
