Hi Ernie and all,
Normally I don't send out pre purchase questions, and find it pointless unless I am buying something a whole lot more expensive. My questions aren't as much a pre purchase questions really since I have decided to buy it, but want to be sure I'm not missing anything.

Here are my concerns:

FSBuilds web site doesn't have any type of "Buy Now" link or anything, but just a link to simmarket for 2.0. I followed the link but still have concerns that this is in fact the correct build. It shows in the notes on this page under "FSBuild 2.3 Update" and the fact that this does work for FSX but can only be found in the FS2004 Navigation section of simmarket (A small problem or oversite perhaps, but as a marketer, can be a pretty large point of interest to the Developer I would imagine).
Anyway, is this the main page to buy the latest build? I don't want to buy an older program I will have to then download patches and updates for that are un needed if there is another link to a newer build I may be missing.

Last but not least, if someone could post me a link or point me in the right direction of how to use ASA's data in my flight plans for my PMDG's I'd be most grateful. I have actually put off getting this because I have read many posts that say this only works with later version of Active Sky, but was set straight last night in a different forum.

Thanks,
Dan Prunier

PS. Sorry for the fragged order and runoff sentences, I will fix later when I have more time, hehe. I am just running late for erronds is all ;-)

Arne,

Was that a problem with European using (I forgot) like commas (,) instead of periods (.) in the file????

I have always used AS6.5 because it works in FS9 and FSX.

Does Europe have the same problem or any problem with ActiveSky version 6.5?
To the best of my knowledge ver6.5 works with FSbuild everywhere (worldwide).

Thanks Arne,
That is good to know. I'm still curious about the main question though. Can anyone tell me if that is the only place to buy the product? And if it is patched accordingly? If not, where would I find the patches?

Thanks,
Dan

Hi Dan and welcome,

Yes, you have to (or can) buy at Simmmarket and YES, you're gonna have to install an update (patch), since that version (FSBuild v2.3) is not the latest one.

You can find the patch here: (FSBuild v2.3.7.6)

http://www.fsbuild.com/dl/Fsbuild2376_2Upd.exe

Hope that helps.

Regards,

Igor

Thanks Igor,
I have it now and patched it...
I was hoping I would be able to just jump in and at least do the basics since I am familiar with this style app. Well, I was wrong. First thing I did was enter a ICAO in the Departure field then chose a rwy. The sidstar field had no entries and the "Find departure airport name" button just clears my route. Hopefully these features work better once I read the manual and see why they are useless at the moment.
So much for just jumping in, looks like another product where I'll have to bookmark the forum and read through some how to's.

Anyways, thanks for the answer, just hope it gets better than this.

Have you read in the manual the section on updating the NavData for FSbuild?

Dan,

I did not know when you would return to the forum .. I expected you were off to read the manuals.

In which case, when you returned to the forum .. my comment would have been ok because you would have by then.

Actually I did not know if the patches were updates or not.

And, I did not know if you would have already done a navdata update or not.

So I just mentioned the Navdata .... to call your attention to it with not much more thought on it.

So, I have not read the manuals in years .. I assumed the navdata information would be there.

I do not know what is in the Navdata zip file. I never look at it.

I just unzip it into the FSBuild folder.

Also, in just getting started with FSBuild it is not uncommon to have a few startup questions on this forum.
You will be doing just fine in no time at all.
