I've installed FS Build and now have a pretty good idea of how it works. However I can't load my Plans into the 737.

I think I've figured out the reason and would appreciate guidance on how to overcome what I assume to be the problem of the paths for FSX and PMDG not being correct.

In the Options section there is a BROUSE button in the FSX line (Line 1) which allowed me to select the path below. I'm hoping it's correct.

C\ Bootcamp
Programs files (X86)
Microsoft Games
Microsoft Flight Simulation

However the next BROUSE button is in line 22 and therefore I can't change the PMDG path to what I assume would be correct

C\ Bootcamp
Programs files (X86)
Microsoft Games
Microsoft Flight Simulator
PMDG
Flight Plans

Is there a way to move the BROUSE buttons in order to select the correct path? ?

No, you cannot move the browse buttons. What you can do is make sure that line 1 button is actually pointing at your flight simulator base directory. In your case that would seem to be C:\Bootcamp\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X - then the PMDG directory will automatically display the correct path. Make sure you go to the 'options|settings' page and save your settings.

Thank you for the information which I've followed.

However when I try to load the listed Flight Plan EGPD-LFPG I receive a message reading:

Unable to create ISG File S:\FS2004\ISG\FlightPlans\EGPD-LFPG.rte

May I have the benefit of your further guidance?

Regards.................Cliff

If you do not have ISG, then make sure that ISG1 is not selected in the "Export to..." menu or checked in the selection tree in the "options|settings" page and save your settings. That should get rid of it. If it does not, then copy the content of your fsbuild2.cfg file (in the main fsbuild directory) into your next message so I can take a look at it.

I've unticked ISG1 in "Export to" and in "Options/Setting" but exporting still eludes me.

But here's the rub. Neither the Mouse copy/paste clicks nor the Alt C/ALT V keyboard presses allow me to copy and paste fsbuild2.cfg into this reply.

If it's okay with you may I revert to a time when my computer tech guru next visits? It may some considerable time but when does he'll probably know how to send the copy to you.

Thanks for your helpful involvement DJ.

Warmly...............Cliff

DJ it's occurred to me that the answer may be as simple as me exporting incorrectly. If so I'd be grateful if you would show me where I'm going wrong. This is what I've been doing:

1.Launch FSX and place the PMDG 737 on the runway at EGGL
2.Diminish FSX with the minus sign on the bar, top right.
3.Launch FS Build and enter LEAL into Departure and EGGL into Destination.
4.Hit "pm" then hit Auto Generation.
5.Select "Export to" and tick FS2004/FSX, FSX (xml) and PMDG 737/747 etc
6.Hit ENTER
7.Check to see whether the Plan has arrived in the PMDG "Flight Plans"
c:\Bootcamp
Program Files (x86)
Microsoft Games
Microsoft Flight Simulator X
PMDG
Flight Plans

Am I doing something wrongly?

If that is your fsbuild2.cfg file, it has not been updated in any way. FS_HOME is completely incorrect and all the settings are ancient defaults so it is clear that nothing is being written to fsbuild2.cfg. Based on what you wrote earlier, I assume you are running Win7/Win8 on a Mac; if this is the case the first thing you must do is bring up Windows and turn UAC off and then reboot. Rename fsbuild2.cfg to fsbuild2.bkp and then run FSBuild from the right click menu item "run as administrator" and make all your desired settings for export and for the FS_HOME directory, as I showed you in my earlier post, and save them. Close FSBuild and then run again (as administrator) and see if your problems are solved. If you are running Win8 you can do the same as for Win7 but it may not help since Win8 has stronger permission restrictions than Win7 does.

1.I've turned off UAC.

2.Before making the name change may I check with you that I'm about to make the change correctly. The relevant Folder line reads:

fsbuild2

I confirm that you're correct in your assumption that I'm in Windows 7 in Bootcamp on a Mac

1. I've turned UAC off.

2. Before making the name change may I check with you that I'm about to make the change correctly. The relevant Folder line reads:

fsbuild2 13/01/2011 CFG file

Do I change "fsbuild2" to "fsbuild2.bkp"?

OR do I change "CFG file" to "bkp file"?

If I double click on the Folder I'm presented with a list of items headed by the word [FSBUILD]. Do I change it to [FSBUILD.BKP]?

If you open up the control panel and go to the 'Folder Options' entry in the "View" tab, you will see an entry "Hide extensions for known file types" - uncheck that and press the OK button and close the control panel. Now you will see fsbuild2.cfg instead of the entry you are now seeing. Change 'cfg' to bkp and you have it. When you bring up FSBuild the next time it will create a new fsbuild2.cfg file for you that will not have all the useless entries that the current one has. Just follow my previous instructions to set things up...

1.I followed the instructions
2.I created a Flight Plan and saved it.
3. Then selected "Export to.." and hit ENTER.
4.I checked the PMDG Flight Plan folder but it wasn't there.
5. Two thoughts occur to me. One is that maybe I should be doing something else beside simply hitting ENTER after ticking the "Export to" and the second thought was that maybe the new bkp file didn't change as it should. So here it is...

Delete this file. Run FSBuild. On the 'Options' page set the browse button on the 1st line of the grid to point at the directory where FS is installed, per my earlier post. On the 'Options|Settings' page check the box in the selection tree under 'Export to...' for the PMDG 737NG. Now make any export option selections you wish from the menus. Now press the 'Save Config Options' button. Now give it a try. If it doesn't work, check the fsbuild2.cfg file to see if it has changed from the original - if it has not then something is preventing the file from being written to or saved. Are you running Win7 or Win8 in your bootcamp partition?

As it's almost midnight here in Spain I'm going to hit the sack now and continue with this puzzle tomorrow DJ.

I must say this though........if you'd been here I'd have said to hell with midnight and taken you out for an appreciative late night, slap up meal. Paella or whatever takes your fancy.

Where are you incidentally? I'm near a seaside resort called Benidorm on The Costa Blanca. That's half way down the Spanish coast.

Warmly........Cliff

P.S. I'm running Windows 7 in the Bootcamp partition.

P.P.S. If we can't settle the problem how practical would it be for me to give you access to my computer?

Cliff,

The meal sounds great - I bet I could get some great seafood and vino!

I'm very near KHEF in Manassas, Va which is not too far from Washington, DC...

OK, Win7 is good because I have it and know the issues it can give you. Remote access is not easy unless you know how to set it up and get all the permissions just right so don't worry, we'll get it this way as soon as I can figure out why changes don't seem to be written to the .cfg file. Incidentally, one other thing you should turn off is Windows Defender...
