The thin, dashed green line is showing the radials currently selected for the VOR tuned into your NAV1 radio. You will see this line any time you are within range of a VOR whose frequency is the same as that tuned into the NAV1 radio and the course set in your autopilot matches a radial that would cross the display screen. The green "312" next to the line indicates that the course currently set in the autopilot is either 312, or the reciprocal 132 (which would be displayed on the other side of the VOR icon on the screen).

The thicker, solid magenta line is a course line, though I couldn't say why it doesn't match your present position more closely. What was the original route you entered into the FMC?

Thanks for responding and educating me on the thin green line. I've been using ISG for a few months now and this was the first time I've come across this line. It seems a bit of a coincidence that I would have this line for virtually the entire flight? I'm definitely going to test it again now that I know its origin (I typically fly the CRJ7 so I'm not as familiar with the HW_B737_ND gauge).

The thicker magenta line is a bit of a mystery to me as well. My course is exactly what is shown in the fmc and HW_B737_ND. I created the fligtht plan via the FSX flight planner and entered it into the fmc. This thicker magenta line appeared at each waypoint along the route until I entered the arrival transition and I reached the IF of my final apporoach.

I also test flew the same 744 with the same gauge set from TJSJ to TNCM with the exact same results as shown in my post. Same green line (coincidence I guess) and same thick magenta line draws for each waypoint along the route until I accepted a transition to the final approach.

So for both of these flights, I created a flight plan using the FSX flight planner and then incorporated the route into the FMC using the appropriate keys. I took off and and let the FMC do the flying.

I'm not sure my description of the green dashed line was terribly good, but I'm glad you got the idea of what I was trying to get across. Next time you see it, try playing around with the course you have selected and the line should shift accordingly.

That is interesting about the course line. When I have some time I'll play around with it and see if I can duplicate the line as it appears there. Maybe I can nail down why it is doing what it is doing. One question, what AIRAC data are you using?

The "magenta line that seems to come from 000 to the 'next' waypoint" is an artifact from loading the route from the FSX Flight Planner. There's no adverse effect, just an extra line on the display.

Ernie putting it on his to-do list.

For the longest time I would call it "the Rudolph line" seeing as it likely originated from somewhere towards the North Pole. :)

Just as an FYI, I've made three flights with 1.8 and have yet to come across the Rudolph line so far.
