Ernie;

Is there an interface that can be used to access the data needed to integrate the IGS FMS gauge with other panel gauges (e.g. crosstrack, course, distance-to-waypoint, leg valid etc?

Regards

Bob Scott

Hi Bob,
There is not currently an interface for this function in ISG.

Regards.
Ernie.

Bummer. I was hoping to be able to integrate it into the TinMouse II B732 panel...have been looking for a RNAV unit something like this for a while. Doesn't make sense to do it if the HSI can't be coupled, though.

How does this unit connect to the A/P...via heading control only, or some other means?

Hope you can put in a display interface using FSUIPC offsets or shared variables some day.

Cheers

Bob Scott

You'd have to replace the B732's HSI with the ISG EHSI to have this coupling.

Heading only, though it will adjust the heading accordingly to stay on track (within the limits of the aircraft's turning ability).

I guess I'm not clear on the benefits of this. Admittedly I'm far from being an export in this area.

But if we provided such an interface wouldn't only gauge developers be be able to take advantage of it during design time ? It doesn't seem like something the average user would be able to make use of for an existing gauge/panel.

Regards.

Well, sort of...done properly the data could also be made available to XML gauges, so the classic example of a programmer writing C code for a gauge isn't the only one who would benefit. Lots of folks are playing with xml gauges.

Biggest thing, though, is that it would permit integration with some of the other complex panels...for example lots of folks are looking for an FMS that Eaglesoft could integrate into its Citation X...such an interface might make a collaboration with them possible that'd sell more of both the C-X and your gauge package. Likewise, if I could integrate it into the freeware TinMouse II (I'm the gauge programmer) there'd be people interested in buying the ISG FMS just to have in our 737-200 I think.

The freeware CIVA INS, and the Reality XP GNS units both have good (but really different) interfaces and I've been able to integrate them properly with the TinMouse II HSI gauge to show CDI and distance-to-waypoint data based on the RNAV data.

Cheers

You lost me here. I use ISG1 it in my ESDG Citation X all the time, (by replacing the ES MFD with the ISG1 MFD) we even created a template for it that's available on the template page.

What are we missing that currently prevents others from this integration ?

Sorry if I'm not understanding.

But why wouldn't you just replace/retrofit the Tinmouse HSI with the ISG1 EHSI ?

You would then get the CDI distance-to-waypoint info from the ISG1 EHSI/FMS.

Regards.
