Okay, if you have the AeroSim FSX Boeing Triple Seven, FSFK, DBS Profile Radar and the CS Weather Radar (and the ISG Gauges too of course), this panel retrofit will give you a fully tricked out Boeing 777, complete with:

The ISG Smiths CDU in all three slots on the VC's pedestal, the ISG LNAV and VNAV engage buttons in the VC on the autopilot mode control panel, the replacement ISG B777 Primary Flight Display in the VC in the P1 and P2 slots, plus radar, ACARS, VSD and FMC displays as 2D pop up panels. If you add the TSS B777 sound set as well, then this is the FSX B777 you've been waiting for.

If you only have the ISG stuff, it will of course work to give you the FMCs and PFDs and you can simply comment out the other gauges if you like. Don't forget to add all the VNAV and LNAV commands in the ISG config file!

This picture highlights the changes in the VC and shows the 2D pop ups:

I'm just curious to know if anyone has considered a panel retrofit for a three-holer (DC10/MD11 specifically) using a freeware panel? I can do minor tweaks to aircraft and scenery, but I have yet to figure out how to work with panels. I'm sure the retrofits for the payware panels work great, but I'm not sure I can use those retrofits without having purchased the aircraft models the panels were meant to be used with.

I've read the documents on how to create a panel with the ISG instruments, but it pretty much just leaves me scratching my head. I'm sure I can figure it out, but haven't had the time to sit down and play with creating a panel yet. Any thoughts on how a complete and utter beginner can go about figuring out how to retrofit panels? :)

Have you checked out the panel retrofits page ?

There are several freeware retrofits there, from the default FS(/FSX models, to Project Opensky,
Project Fokker, to stuff by Marco Prada, Hector Molina, Thomas Ruth, ken Mitchell etc. All freeware.

But yeah editing panel.cfg files is not easy, it helps if you have some experience edited panel.cfg files.

You could probably try FSPanel Studio, it does make adding gauges to panels easier (at least for 2D panels) as it has a drag and drop interface and you can visually see where you are placing the gauge in the panel.

Also check out the freeware panel retrofits, as they can serve as examples on how to install the ISG gauges in other panels.

But if you really want something aded to a freeware panel, and don't know how to do it, just post where
I can get the panel, and I can set it up for you.

Regards.
Ernie.

I have downloaded several of the retrofit panels available on the ISG site, but I was looking specifically for a panel for a three-holer (for now I am using a 747 panel, and it works, if not very authentically). In my experience they are typically somewhat hard to find, probably because there were only a handful of three-engine aircraft designs that were manufactured. I will keep a look out for a good panel that I can attempt to retrofit with ISG products, but I'm not at all confident I will be successful. Have to start somewhere, though. :)

Here is my "near-original" Captain Sim 727-100 panel with the EFS50 EHSI added to the Captain's VC panel and to the FO's VS panel. It's the first panel I've submitted, so any constructive criticism is welcome.

Attachment:
cs721vc.jpg
cs721vc.jpg [ 254.6 KiB | Viewed 4272 times ]

The "VC GPS" (boxed in orange in the screenshot) will open a panel window consisting of the EHSI controller and the MCU stacked together. A Smiths FMS-2 toggle button has been laid onto the EHSI controller. (I've also added an ISG TCAS Logic and ISG Server gauge to the VCockpit01 section in case that's helpful for anyone.)

The original Captain Sim HSI gauges are present in the .cfg file but are disabled in case anyone wants to mix-and-match.

Because of the shape of the HSI bezel in the VC model, the areas of the ISG HSI at "5 o'clock" and "7 o'clock" that are used for TCAS range and for DME source/range can be obscured as you can see in the screenshot. Alternate gauge height lines are present in the cfg - disabled - if anyone prefers to have the gauges fully represented. (There will be a "null space" at the "6 o'clock" position of the bezel however.)

Observations about the use of this panel/aircraft combination can be found in my post here: viewtopic.php?f=4&p=14080#p14080

And of course all 727 Captains and First Officers should always remember "NO LIQUIDS PLEASE."

Is it possible that somebody modifies this panel: jb777panel_r09.zip (www.avsim.com)

It is a Boeing 777 panel for FSX and works great with the Posky model.
Could somebody build a FMC/VNAV/LNAV in it?

I have tried it several times by myself but I find it very hard to do.

Thanks!
Robin

Hi,

The readme for the JB panel states:

Quote:
This panel uses a custom throttle controller and internal local variables that will make it incompatible with 3rd party software that attempts to take over control of the FSX autopilot system - such as 3rd party FMC.

So while the ISG Smiths FMC can be placed so that its display (and side keys) is visible in the VC's FMC position, I do not think the ISG package could provide LNAV guidance for the JB panel.

Now it might be possible to replace the JB PFD / MFD with ISG versions and to replace the JB MCP with a stock POSKY 777 MCP which might permit the use of ISG guidance. (This would relegate the JB panel to providing systems simulation, checklists, etc. I'm not sure how the JB systems would respond if they thought they weren't flying the airplane though, so it might not work well.)

I might try this on a quick-and-dirty basis over the weekend.

Just wanted to report not much success in doing so.

It is possible to use the ISG displays (PFD/MFD), but with the heading/crs/altitude values controlled by the JB panels this does not appear to be a path worth persuing.

Oke, thats to bad :(

Thanks for looking at it :)

However, I am trying to make a good working B777 for my FSX.
The posky model + Posky virtual cockpit work fine in FSX.

But when I download the panel retrofit for Posky 777 from the website and replace it, I do have a problem.

Image

I do not have a horizon showing up, is it because the panel.cfg was made for FS9 or what?
How can I solve this?

Thankyou!

Hi

I just saw the A380 VC on the first page. Could please somebody send me those textures for the VC?

Thanks!
Kind Regards

I just noticed on the panel retrofits page, that the link to the T. Ruth A330 panel goes to the page for the T. Ruth A300 panel. Is this supposed to happen?

Hello Falcon lovers!

I'd like to share my retrofit for the 2D, and VC with the ISG v1.8 Gauge Pack.

The aircraft is now VNAV/LNAV capable, includes the EADI/EHSI package... and a Smith's FMS to top it off.

Hope you all enjoy, and please remember at this time I have only tested this in FSX.

Hi

It would help if the retrofits page tells which version (FSX or FS9) and if both 2D and VC supported.
