Fsbuild-2 Flight Planner

Hi All,

Flight Viewer is a just a system where you can broadcast continous screenshots of your flights on the web while flying.

Basically the same concept as SAG-TV, and a few other places have.

I've always enjoying SAG-TV, but felt limited because you had to actually be logged on to Vatsim, and be a member of vatsim Europe. I had the feeling those requirements limited the actual participation in such a system.

So I have set up a dedicated host at viras.org, for this purpose, but with the goal of pilots who are, and who are not part of networks such as vatsim/Ivao etc participating.

The way it works is simple.

1) Run the FS ScreenCap program.




2) Go to the viewer web page () , and within about a minute or so, your information displays on the view list
with any other flighsimmers sending screenshots.




3) Clicking on the 'Online' link, displays the viewer page for that
pilot.



A new screenshot is sent about once every 10 seconds, the viewer page page also refreshes itself about once every 10 seconds. The participant list is updated once every minute.

If you have FSUIPC installed, then it will also send some simulator details such as your aircraft's coordinates, altitude, and speed.

Right now the web page is still in a basic state, but that look will change soon as Garry our web page designer is working on it.

What I'm looking for is a few volunteers willing to help test out the system while they are flying around in flightsim. And maybe provide some suggestions ideas etc to improve it.

Is this still working? Or there is something similar out somewhere?

Is there any intention to fix this again after the server crash? ... Or is it just being 'left to die'..? I would have thought / hoped that it was just a simple case of uploading a backup.

No SQL support with a PHP enabled hosting - certainly unexpected but at least they are fixing it. Also, I can fully appreciate that you are busy with other projects, at least one of which I am very much looking forward to seeing released - there is a good reason why Virtual Blue1 launched a 'retro operations' section as soon as the real airline retired the RJ85... All the same, I'm looking forward to it going back online. Hopefully the integration with our VA website will also just work again as before, but if not I shall be in touch by email to ask the new details...

Unfortunately does not appear to be working though. When I try to run FS ScreenCap (ver 1.4.1.3b) I get a message:

Connection Attempt to 'viras.org' Failed !

Yep, working fine now in terms of image upload etc, although I did see it drop my connection once this morning...

In terms of the http://www.viras.org/fv/ site there are a few problems. The layout looks messed up in FF5 but not in IE8 - in FF there seem to be a few html 'comments' showing up ( <!----------------- Begin Footer -------------------- --> ) but I assume this is some debugging you are still doing? Could that be the source of the layout issue? Also, the download link for the screen capture software http://www.viras.org/dl/FSScreencap.zip comes up with a 404 error.

Next question... How can this be better advertised to get new folks to join and use it more? It's a great idea but it seems under-used. SAG-TV on the other hand is almost always in use...
