Is it possible to utilize VNAV to the destination airport? I'm finding that VNAV works perfectly until the last fix, or there abouts.

Unless there's something I've forgotten, VNAV should descend the plane all the way to field elevation but I'm finding the function disengages near the last fix. :|

Hey Brian;

My guess is that the gauge defaults to "off at last waypoint", or you have the following line in either the isg or <aircraftID> configs: VnavOffAtLastWpt=1

If you put VnavOffAtLastWpt=0 in the isg config file for the particular aircraft you are using it should take you all the way to the ground, but I haven't tried it.

Good luck!

Based on:
SID.UKW9 KDFW
RNAV/VNAV 36L

Hi,

1)Goto route page and click PREV PAGE.

2)Input runway fixed intersections.. (This proccess should be inserted after the last waypoint you see in the ROUTE PAGE).

The first one would be TANDE.

Enter the second Intersection in which would be CORMN.

Next DALLN and BEGGO

3)Goto LEGS PAGE and input the speed of your approach with altitude..

Now on final, you should be performing what ever altitude and speed given in the Smith FMS.

It would be smart to Identify the Localizer and watch the glideslope as a backup as you can see on the ACS_PFD.
I needed it in this situation. Visibility was 1 1/2sm with snow last night in KDFW.
Happy Landings!!

Well, thanks for taking the time to help me but actually, I'm already doing the steps you've suggested.

Since a great many approaches are not in the database, I usually end up putting them in myself and assigning speeds and altitudes for each fix. The VNAV works great until the last altitude and then it just won't make the descent.

So if the FAF was 1600' for instance, I'll see that altitude in the upper right corner of the PFD but the plane won't begin the descent to it. Nor will it initiate one to field elevation. :(

Ah I see your point.
I wonder if you can insert the airfield ICAO in the last waypoint on the route page.
Give it a assigned speed with altitude on the LEGS PAGE which would be about fifty feet above, will that work.
It might not work though, You might end up somewhere else on the airfield rather.
I give it a try this on my next arrival in.

Hi Brian;
You can assign a lower altitude less than 1000ft.
ex; If you want 800 feet, Just enter 008.
ex; if you want 200 feet, Judt enter 002.

Update: well, after trying a number of test flights, I still can't get the VNAV to descend to the last two fixes. Strangely enough, sometimes it will begin the descent, only to stop and level off at an odd altitude. :?

Okay, I tried that as well and saw no difference. :?

I've made a general observation that the VNAV appears to disengage at a certain altitude (somewhere around 2200') so even when I tried to trick it by creating additional waypoints beyond the destination airpoirt, the VNAV refuses to descend at a certain point, usually when the next lower altitude is below 2000'.
