1) The GNSXLS does not have VNAV speed cability. This is why there is no option in the FMS to set the speed. VNAV is advisory only as is the case for the real GNS.
So when using the GNS, you want to use the .cfg seting VnavSetSpd=0 so that it does not try to set the speed. In the first release this setting was =0 by default, but we changed it to =1 by default when the SMITHS FMS gauge was added in ver 1.4.
This setting will prevent the gauge from trying to enter a VNAV speed, which it won't find for the GNS, and this probably explains why the speed goes to 0 when in VNAV for you.
If you wish to have the speeds set in VNAV, then use the Smiths FMS gauge.
2) I think there a database issue at KLGB, because I tried it at other airports and the FReq is there. For example try KLAX, and you will see the freq's there.
