I'm trying to integrate the Smiths FMC and Boeing-style ND into a modified C17 panel, and everything is ticking along nicely except for one small problem. I can't get the acft performance data to show up in the Smiths FMC.
I have a wad of performance parameters defined in a profile called C17A.cfg, located in C:\FS9\ISG\Aircraft\.
I've tried adding the 5th parameter ("C17A") to the gauge entry lines in panel.cfg for the Boeing ND gauge, the EFIS control gauge, and the FMC itself, and nothing works. When I fire up the Smiths, the model/ident area is blank.
There is a catch. I have the two MFDs in the panel set to display a PFD and EICAS data at startup. The Boeing ND is in an overlay [Window01], not displayed at startup. It does have the proper 4011 panel.cfg ident. The Smiths FMC is similarly in an overlay [Window04] with the 4012 ident. The EFIS Ctrl is the only gauge displayed at start, but putting in the 5th parameter here doesn't work either.
I am guessing that the Boeing ND needs to be in the [Window00] group for the 5th parameter to be acknowledged by the Smiths FMC and for the aircraft data to be loaded—is that correct?
Oh, and one last question - is there any benefit to having both the MCU an FMS in the panel? Seems to me that the FMC duplicates most if not all of the functions that exist within the MCU... Would I be missing anything if I axed the MCU and left the FMC?
