I'm having a problem directing FS Build to the ASA weather directory. I'm going over a network, then to the "weather" file in the application data folder for HIFI, but the whole thing seems to be too long for FS Build.

This is what I get:

\\MATT-PC\C\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\ADMINISTRATOR\APPLICATION DATA\HIFI\ASA\WEATH

As you can see, it cuts off the last two letters and I cannot insert them, either in the export directory or in the config file (well, I can put it in the config file, but the program apparently can't see them). Anyone know of a fix for this short of reinstalling ASA under a different user account or renaming the computer?

Thanks!

Matt

Matt,

Just to verify .. FSX correct?
Are you setting this up for the first time?
What is your OS?
Where did the Wx file go to?
Did you get an error message?
How did you first notice the problem?
Are you using FSUIPC Wide ? .. what version?
What version of FSBuild?
Post your config file here.

Matt,

Ok, based on the complete information you provided:

FSbuild is ok.

You have a network problem.

I cannot help on that, sorry.

The network is fine, but thanks for taking the time anyway.

Matt,

No, something on your network is not fine (the same as before).

You mentioned:
"I did have it working in the past."
This means FSBuild, FSUIPC and FSUIPC WIDE are ok.

"That was on a different computer, though."
This means the new computer is the problem.

"I swapped out machines recently."
This means the new computer is the problem on your network.

I would assume you would configure your network machines the "same as before".
Same versions of all software, same Operating System, same configuration files, same settings.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to start an argument here. All I know is that both computers are seeing and talking to each other just as they have in previous incarnations, except that the ASA snapshot file is two letters short of being recognized by FS Build. Apart from that, FS Build is exporting to both computers perfectly, ASA and Active Sky 6.5 both inject the weather into FS as they should, GE Pro II sends the ground textures normally, and FS Commander 8.6 is working perfectly normal. A couple of other programs I run also connect to FS normally.

Again, the ONLY problem I'm having is that FS Build is two characters shy of being able to import the winds from ASA. It can import from AS 6.5 just fine. I was just wondering if anyone else had seen something along these lines. If not, so be it. It isn't worth re-installing ASA to a shorter directory (something other than "administrator" which would seem to solve the problem, I think). And aside from importing the winds, FS Build is also working just fine. If nothing else, I can run AS 6.5 and update that snapshot, run FS Build, and go on my merry way with either AS 6.5 or ASA.

And again, thanks much for your consideration, Von. I do appreciate it.

Matt

Matt,

"I was just wondering if anyone else had seen something along these lines."
No, not that I know of.

You just have to make your new rig's network/software/config files/setups just like the old one .. because it was all working fine before.

Everything was working until you swapped drives out.

This networking PCs, directory names/paths/permissions etc is not an FSBuild problem.
