I am using FSBuild 2.3.7.6.2, Build 239. I am using Vista Enterprise 64. I have read the user guide, watched the video, and read the posts about the message "unable to create FS2000 file C:\users\Lynn A Fisher\Documents\Flight Simulator files\KIND-KORD.PLN." I can save the PMDG flight plans to the correct PMDG flight plans folder. I have gone to Options, Export Directories, FS Home is on the top line and the path is D:\Program Files (X86)\Microsoft Flight SimulatorX, Settings and press the SAVE CONFIG OPTIONS button. Then exit out of FSBuild. I open FSBuild, open export to, tick FS2004/FSX and put the origination and destination locations in, auto-generate, build and it should put the .pln into the proper file, but I get the dreaded message. I have tried to open FSBuild by right clicking on the icon and selecting to run as administrator with no success. I have UAC turned off. Please help me with this situation.

Thanks,
Lynn Fisher

I am using Vista Enterprise 64. I have read the user guide, watched the video
** Have you used FSBuild OK for some time and then the failure or are you a new user?

, and read the posts about the message "unable to create FS2000 file C:\users\Lynn A Fisher\Documents\Flight Simulator files\KIND-KORD.PLN.
** Is this the message you get? It shuold say 2004.

" I can save the PMDG flight plans to the correct PMDG flight plans folder.
** Good.

I have gone to Options, Export Directories, FS Home is on the top line and the path is D:\Program Files (X86)\Microsoft Flight SimulatorX, Settings and press the SAVE CONFIG OPTIONS button.

** "Program Files (X86)" can cause (permissions, etc) problems with all programs.
I use C:\FSX

Then exit out of FSBuild.
**correct

I open FSBuild, open export to, tick FS2004/FSX and put the origination and destination locations in, auto-generate, build and it should put the .pln into the proper file, but I get the dreaded message.
** Do a screenshot of the Results window and post it here

I have tried to open FSBuild by right clicking on the icon and selecting to run as administrator with no success.
** What do you mean ,,,, doed FSBuild even start?

I have UAC turned off. Please help me with this situation.

I have had FSBuild since 2008. I tried it but used it rarely. This is the first time I have tried to use it since probably late 2008 and the 1st time with Vista, FSX.

** Is this the message you get? It should say 2004.

I use C:\FSX

I have used the program files (x86) for a long time and no problems with any other FSX programs. Does the FSBuild have to be in the same folder as FSX? Can I just create an D:\FSBuilder\ folder and assign in the options FSHOME D:\program files (x86)\Microsoft FlightsimulatorX? I will try this. To me, it seems that if I can put the flight plan in the PMDG folder it is not a permissions problem.

** What do you mean ,,,, doed FSBuild even start?

When I right click the icon of FSBuild it starts, it just doesn't make any difference.

Thanks,
Lynn

Lynn,

What is you HOME path (Options Export_Directories // first line)?

Mine exports to FSX yours just says FS.
Yours: Documents\Flight Simulator files
Mine: Documents\Flight Simulator X files

What is the path to where your FSX.exe is installed?
That path should be in FSBuilds HOME line (and saved as before).

My HOME path (Options Export_Directories // first line) is:

That is the correct path to my FSX program folder.

Computer
Data (D:)
Program Files (x86)
Microsoft Flight Simulator X
And after clicking on Microsoft Flight Simulator X in the main folder is: fsx.exe

Thanks,
Lynn

I just saw that the file name in the error msg is "Flight Simulator Files" not "Flight Simulator X Files" which is the correct file name for the flight plan folder. Where in the FSBuilder program can I change the folder name of the stored FSX flightplans that it wants to write to in order to match the correct folder name?

Lynn,

Your FSX.exe file is on your "D" drive.
So, FSBuild expects to find the path with .... "Flight Simulator X Files" / ?? or Flight Simulator Files folder (your system) on the "D" drive ... not "C".

Try creating the correct path/folder on the "D" drive for FSBuild and see if it exports ok.

PMDG etc are already on "D".

IMO, I would keep it all on "D".

Edit:
If your path is correct on C .. then FSBuild does not have "permission" to write the file there.

But you said permissions are not a problem on your PC ..correct?

On my system all is on drive "C".
So the above is what I would try .. and see as a quick test.

Von,

If you look at the error msg the path is C\users\Lynn A Fisher\Documents\Flight Simulator files.
So I gave it what it what it wanted. I created a file in the C\users\Lynn A Fisher\Documents\Flight Simulator files and it found it and saved the plan.

File comment: This shows the save

Thanks for all of your help. I would not have figured it out without your working with me. I really appreciate it.

Sincerely,
Lynn

Lynn,

From the beginning I "assumed" :

C\users\Lynn A Fisher\Documents\Flight Simulator files
path / folders already existed ...

but fsbuild could not write the plan it created into that path/folder.

Thus a permissions problem ... so I assumed!

Glad you got it sorted.
Have a good well planned flight.
