Hello Ernie:

Here is a trip from WSSS to CYYZ: WSSS VMR3A VMR L642 ENREP M753 BITOD M755 PNH B329 NAH W1 NOB MEOVA R471 ADBAG OMLIP G212 JTG B330 JTA 42E04 KATBA B480 BADRO 88E13 86E58 85E58 85N22 8168N 7676N 7178N UX BR10 YZS NCA32 VIRSO YKQ AR36 YUY YYB J556 LOYED BORDN.BORDN2 CYYZ
Every thing looked ok till Coral Harbour (YZS) then for some reason it took a job of several thousand miles to NCA32 of the coast of Africa somewhere then back to Virso. Attached is a gid file showing this.. This route was done on version 17.

Regards,

Ronald Neil

Roald,

Where did you get the route from?

What is nca32 (YZS NCA32 VIRSO) in your plan?

If you let FSB build a standard route is there a problem?

Ron,

I did use the route you supplied (cut and paste) and seen the same bad results.
But I cannot get FSB to generate that route!

What I want to know is what steps you did in FSB before you hit the build button.

I cannot duplicate your problem making just departure airport/runway , SID, STAR arrival runway and hitting build.

NCA refers to Northern Control Area and is part of the Canadian air traffic control system. NCA tracks work in conjunction with NAT and are primarily used by international flights operating between North America and Europe (NAT) and between North America and Alaska-Orient (PAC). There is also an SCA or Southern Control Area. I've had NCA tracks pop up before in FSB without problem, but then I've also had the isolated occurrence of far, out of the way, waypoints popping up, usually when there are duplicate names in the database. There was another post here on how to reduce the occurrence of confusion with duplicate names on VORs, NDBs, waypoints, etc.

Further research indicates several "canned" routes containing NCAs are listed in the file fsb_fplans.txt. The NCAs themselves are defined in the file fsb_awy.txt for NCA 10 thru 80 (not inclusive) while NCA03-NCA10 are defined as waypoints in the file fsb_int.txt. Specifically NCA32 is defined as LISKI-TAYTA-NCA08-NCA09-NCA10-6890N-YZS-NCA07-VIRSO in fsb_awy.txt. I haven't tried to build a route using it, but it might be worth looking at further.

Vaughan:

I was able to recreate his problem using the Auto Generate function for a route from WSSS to CYYZ (no runways, SIDs or STARs selected). The problem appears to be a waypoint titled 60A32 which is defined as part of NCA32 and located at N00:00:00 E00:00:00. In the file fsb_int.txt 60A32 is located at N60:00:00 W81:43:59. How it gets transposed is the mystery. Also, 60A32 is not part of the definition of NCA32 in the file fsb_awy.txt, so the mystery deepens.

Ok, autogen ... that is what I needed to know.

This:N00:00:00 E00:00:00.
is a bad spot!?

Possibly a software "trap" for catching problems?

I tried it out today, its not finding the lat/lon for one of the 'NCA32' waypoints for some reason.

I'll put it on the to-do list for the next update.

Regards.
Ernie.
