The reason seems to be that in Options, the Export Directories page has only one "Browse" button at line 1 but no "Browse" buttons until line 22 which is for Squawk Box and then a button for each line being a different add-on.

The trouble is that if I use the one "Browse" button to set the path to FSX files, all the paths down to and including line 21 are set the same. This is no good for my PMDG or Level D or indeed any other add-on a/craft.

I have tried adding a line for PMDG in the cfg file but that did not work which may mean I did something wrong.

Can you help please?

If you set the line one browse button for the FSX root path all lines down through and including line twenty one will be set to the correct default paths for all of those add-ons... what are you seeing?

Well DJ, the FSX root path is not where flight plans are saved. My FSX is on the D drive but the flight plans are saved by default in C:\Users\Iain\My Documents\Flight Simulator X files.

So I need two locations to save not one. I'm using FSBuild 2.4 btw, on Win 7 64 bit. This plan saving was working fine when I had both FS9 & FSX on my machine. However, to avoid wasting disc space I have uninstalled FS9 and that was when the trouble started. Sorry, I should have explained this in my OP.

That's fine - all of the FSX plans should be in that location by default on a Win7 System. All of the plans for individule add-on aircraft should be in their normal positions. For example if you have FS in D:\FSX then the default FSX plans will still end up in your My Documents folder as before and when you set the FS_HOME path to D:\FSX then (for example) you will see the PMDG path as D:\FSX\PMDG\Flightplans. What are you seeing?

Strange to report I tried it again, so that I could give you the error message correctly and it worked. Not sure exactly what I did to correct things but anyway problem solved! Thanks!
